COBUS Systems was founded in 1992 and is part of the COBUS Group, headquartered in Rheda-Wiedenbrück, Germany. The company is one of Germany’s leading IT service providers, supporting clients for over 30 years in IT managed services, Microsoft 365 integration, cloud solutions, and IT security.
With around 2,000 managed assets, COBUS ensures that its clients always have access to a stable, scalable, and secure IT infrastructure.
The Challenge
On a daily basis, COBUS Systems manages a large variety of IT and non-IT assets – from laptops and servers to machinery and office furniture. This diversity, combined with previous Excel-based workflows, increasingly led to confusion and extra workload.
Incomplete or outdated records and limited visibility of assets made inventory management inefficient and error-prone. Manual processes also created bottlenecks whenever employees were absent or priorities shifted.
The Solution
The turning point came with the implementation of Timly as a central inventory management system, integrated with Lansweeper via API. COBUS Systems migrated its existing on-premises Lansweeper solution to the cloud and intelligently linked both systems.
Now, network assets are automatically detected by Lansweeper and synchronized directly into Timly, creating a centralized, up-to-date overview of all devices and resources. Since the first integration, around 1,000 assets have already been successfully migrated.
COBUS also uses additional Timly modules such as digital signatures for asset handovers, deadline management, a ticketing system, and clear assignment of assets to employees and locations. These features automate processes, clarify responsibilities, and minimize time expenditure.
The bonus: This improved inventory management can also be offered as a value-added service to COBUS’s own customers.
